  • Nitrous Oxide: nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is administered through a cannula that is placed under the nose. The effects of nitrous oxide take effect immediately after the cannula is positioned. Once the cannula is removed, the results of nitrous oxide dimish.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation: An oral sedation is prescribed and taken before your appointment. You will need to schedule a ride to and from our Arlington dentist office if you are taking oral sedation.
  • IV Sedation: Intravenous sedation is administered directly into the bloodstream through an IV line. Because the sedation is administered directly in the vein, it takes effect immediately. You are conscious but fully relaxed while under IV sedation. It is important to coordinate a ride home if you opt for IV sedation.
